Congratulations to you all; last year we raised $70,882.65 in donations to find a cure for Alzheimer’s or to help those caring for a patient with Alzheimer’s! You should be very proud of the work that you have accomplished!
Each year Virginia Royal Arch Masons conduct fundraising activities to support the research to find a cure for Alzheimer’s, or helping those with the disease. We do these activities with zeal! The donations that are received go to the following charitable organization:
In my first year as Grand Almoner we asked the question of who knows someone that is afflicted with the disease or know someone who is taking care of a patient with Alzheimer’s. In each talk that I gave, nearly half of the people present know someone who has been affected by this horrible disease.
On a personal note: My mom was diagnosed with dementia in January of 2017 and as of Christmas, she now has Alzheimer’s. So, this disease has hit home for me.
The many events that have gone on to raise funds have been everything that you could imagine. We have had Table Chapters, golf tournaments, the sale of sausage, we have even had a Chapter that if the members don’t want to have a fundraiser, to simply give $90.00 and they would receive lapel pin!
The funds collected from Royal Arch Mason fundraising events support the Alzheimer’s Association work to enhance care, research and support for all those affected by the Alzheimer’s and related dementias. Much of the money raised to combat Alzheimer’s disease, stays in the Chapter area where the Royal Arch Mason Chapters are located. As the largest non-profit funder of Alzheimer’s research, the Alzheimer’s Association is committed to accelerating progress of new treatments, preventions and ultimately a cure for the disease.
Because the Alzheimer’s Association is the largest non-profit voluntary health organization dedicated to accelerating the progress in prevention, cure and living with Alzheimer’s disease, it is critical that they have the support of organizations such as the Royal Arch Masons. The funds raised by us are critical need to helping us find a way to END Alzheimer’s, the 6th leading cause of death in America.
As we work together to support the Alzheimer’s Association, MAHOVA Memory Unit, and local Project Lifesavers, I hope that you can use some of the tools accessed on this webpage to help in your activities. The partnering of the Alzheimer’s Association with the Royal Arch Masons will move our collective vision of a world without Alzheimer’s forward.
Thank you so much for your support and your diligence to find a cure.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Rt. Ex. Paul W. Lockhart
